PC Gaming Build – Graphics Card and Processor

In a world that is constantly trying to get you to spend your money, sometimes it is hard to know what to buy. As a gamer, I often find myself looking over the latest PC deals. Drooling over the newest Chillblast desktop and wishing I had more than £30 in my bank. Sometimes, it seems like unless you have a very expendable income, a new PC is off limits to you. But, hang tight there, because that is not necessarily the case. Today, I’m going to show you some hints to building a PC regardless of your budget. Small or large, size is not an issue here

This may seem like a silly question but it needs to be asked. You may be thinking that you won’t be able to play some of the new gen games because you don’t have a large budget. Graphics cards are expensive anyway so you would need a pretty reasonable budget if you were planning on building your own PC. Here’s what I have discovered however, in my research. If you are going to build your own PC that can run most next gen games, you are looking at a budget of around £500-600 minimum. It might still seem like a pretty steep number considering this is a budget PC but really it isn’t.

Graphics and processors are essential for gaming but, this may not be news to most of you. Let’s say you want to play Overwatch. It doesn’t matter how good your internet is, if your graphics and processor can’t handle it then you’re a little screwed. However, don’t be disheartened! For I have the solution. Through my endless searching I have discovered a relatively decent combination of both graphics and processor that can handle pretty much any next gen game at the moment.

From what research I have done, and with what little knowledge I have, I have discovered this. You can sacrifice the graphics to a degree if you have a decent processor. This is why I have chosen the Nvidia Geforce GT 740 as the low end graphics card. It obviously has less power than most of the newer GCs, but it is certainly a better option if you are on a budget. You can grab one of these bad boys for around £80-90. Which is very cheap considering that the new GTX Geforce 1080 goes for around £600. AND, it will play most new gen games like Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Fallout 4 and Overwatch.

GTX Geforce 750Ti

Of course if you have a bit more money in the bank, I would recommend going for at least a Nvidia 750Ti. These range in price from around £100-120. This will comfortably play new gen games like DOOM and Fallout 4 on high settings without throttling your FPS. Mix this with a decent processor and you will be laughing.

Gaming is not just about the graphics. It is also about how well your PC can process what is happening on screen at one time. Once you’ve decided on your graphics card, you now needs to know that your PC can handle it. I have to admit, my knowledge of processors is limited but I will share this with you. The AMD FX- 6350, 3.9 GHz, 6-core processor is not too shabby. It will run new gen games smoothly and with your 740/750Ti GC, you can’t really go wrong. This processor ranges in price online but you are looking at at least another £100+ on this one.

I couldn’t find one link for this one so I would recommend just looking around. Sometimes you can find some decent deals. Google is your friend.

Of course, it goes without saying that the bigger your budget the more you can spend on stuff. However, that doesn’t mean you need to have a lot of cash just to get a decent gaming PC. If you are building your own it can be marginally more expensive than just buying a pre-built PC. But, that, I think, is a discussion for another time. Of course, PCs require more than simply a graphics card and a processor; I just didn’t want to make this any longer than it needed to be. Just bear in mind, you can enjoy the pleasures of modern gaming for not a whole lot of money.

I've always had a passion for games and, since I found my passion for writing, I wanted to write about them. I'll play just about anything if I can get my hands on it. I have an unhealthy obsession with all things Star Wars and my motto is "Never apologise for being a nerd."
