Orc Island Now Available on Steam

If you are looking for a simple and fun little indie game to play then look no further. Orc Island is a sandbox survival game following along similar lines of Minecraft and is now available on Steam. Much like any survival game, the key is to stay alive as long as possbile. However, as the game title might suggest, you are not completely alone on this island. Orcs are lurking in every corner and you must decide whether to fight or run away to fight another day.

As you would expect from a game that advertises as a survival game, you need to stay alive. In order to do that you have to find food, water and shelter. The reason I likened this to Minecraft is that it appears to have a very similar feel in style and set-up. the only difference being you aren’t fighting off hordes of zombies, skeletons and creepers. You’re fighting off hordes of orcs instead. Anyway, this game looks like it will have all aspects of survival involved. You’ll have to mine resources so you can build and craft. Fishing and hunting are also a part of the game which means you are likely to need to craft weapons. And, you can also create your own farm for crops.

The only part that I am unsure about is the story. Other than being stranded on this island, there doesn’t appear to be any other sort of story element to it. Regardless, this looks like it could be a fun game to play. It is only single player though so unfortunately, you can’t call upon your friends to save you from the orcs.

The game looks to be a simple one but could also be a lot of fun. No, the graphics aren’t the greatest but you should never judge a game by how pretty it looks. Orc Island is available right now for about £7 on Steam. Is this a worthy price? Who knows. It doesn’t look like the sort of game that has a lot of depth to it but I have been surprised before.

Check out the Orc Island website for more details on the game and development process (if that’s something that interests you). And, if you do play it, don’t forget to let us know what you think.

I've always had a passion for games and, since I found my passion for writing, I wanted to write about them. I'll play just about anything if I can get my hands on it. I have an unhealthy obsession with all things Star Wars and my motto is "Never apologise for being a nerd."
