Nubla Art and Point & Click in One Adventure

It’s a beautiful thing when Art and video games collide, it’s created some truly breathtaking video games. Nubla, is a game developed by Indie Studio Gammera Nest in collaboration with The National Museum Thyssen-Bornemisza of Modern Art. It’s a point ‘n’ click adventure, already released for the PS4 in 2016, has finally made its way to PC Steam.

Nubla, has already received some fantastic praise for its ability to “capture the feel of the very museum it is based on” and some calling it “a beautiful, calming game that many should try out”. So it’s no surprise that Nubla received the Best Art PlayStation Talents Award, and it’s sequel Nubla 2 – M, the City at the Center of the World picked up the Titanium Award of the Fun & Serious Games Festival and the recent Best Design at the Indie Prize.

What is interesting about Nubla is that the museum did not collaborate on the video game as some method to showcase the art, advertise the museum or as some thinly veiled attempt at educating the player. Instead The National Museum Thyssen-Bornemisza of Modern Art, purely just wanted to “start a dialog between the player and the works of art of the Museum”.

“The museum proposed us to make a video game using its works as part of the story, not as an excuse to show them or as an art lesson”, says Daniel Sánchez, CEO at Gammera Nest.
