Draugen PC Review

8.5/10

During your gameplay in Draugen, you'll experience some great beauty with the game's graphics, and you will understand the thought that made in the worlds placement and characters backgrounds. Embark on Draugens mystery that will have you looking around every corner to solve.

Gameplay

The gameplay experience that Draugen gives the gamer is spot on when it comes to providing the player with the right amount of gameplay. With a storyline of a father and daughter on a search for anything that will tell them why they’re in the situation they’re in is an excellent start to the game, the movement in this walking simulator will have you wanted to explore everything you can. With a pretty good open world experience in Draugen helping the story in more ways than none to ensure you, the gamer can explore the different surroundings to get a different take on the game maybe. While my experience may have started with a few visual bugs when disabling motion blur, a quick restart was able to fix the issue. That being said, the developers over at Red Thread Games did a great job with Draugen with its dialogue and overall detail you’ll have during playtime.

While the main story of Draugen might have you giving this game a high score during the exciting dialogue, the graphics are the first thing that displays on your screen during your first day in the world. While it might give off a kind of painted looked at first, the old fashion scene comes to play once the game gets going. Having an environment to interact with during your gameplay is the main thing that stands out to me in indie games. The amount of time that the developers over at Red Thread Games put into Draugen is impressive to ensure that you get that early 1900’s look.

Feeling the environment during your playtime in any game is critical to ensure you feel as though you are in the character’s shoes. In Draugen, the music will give you different feels during each day, and while you’re trying to keep up with the new mysteries that seem to unfold. Not setting aside the environment too much, there seems to be not much there when it comes to feeling/hearing the wind or surroundings of the game world. While that might not be a huge negative, it’s the little things that count the most. And with the dialogue being the leading part in a singleplayer game where you need to understand the goal, Draugen can get a little hard to understand a few things the characters say with just some mouth movement and distance bugs.

Experience a great story driven indie game from Red Thread Games called Draugen where you’ll play as a father/brother trying to figure out a strange mystery that occurred at your long lost sister’s farmhouse. While travelling with your daughter, you’ll embark on a small island to search around for any human life.
