What Just happened at Devolver’s Press Conference?

As I write this, it’s shortly after 1:00 Am. I’m not sure what just happened. Devolver Digital’s having a press conference seemed unnecessary, but who am I to say. Maybe they had a ton of new titles in the works. Maybe something big like a new Hotline Miami.

Devolver Digital’s press conference boiled down to a short glimpse at two games and some pre-recorded, mediocre sketch comedy. I’m tired so maybe I sound bitter, too be fair I waited up until 1:00 am for this after a long day.

Ruiner

Ruiner was the first game Devolver showed off. The cyberpunk twin stick shooter looks neat, and the studio has always handled it well. There wasn’t much to judge so you can check out the trailer below.

Serious Sam’s Bogus Detour

We also got another peek at Serious Sam’s Bogus Detour, another twin stick shooter, this time using a more recognizable property. The trailer talks about mod support, deathmatch, and co-op modes, and those character models look pretty good. This could be some hectic fun.

You can’t really blame Devolver. They did say they weren’t bringing any new games, and at the very least they all seemed to be having fun. Calling this a “Press Conference” seems like a mistake though. Devolver had a very weird stream tonight, and E3 is changing for sure. I just hope the memes that come of this don’t bury these folks.
