It seems to be the norm that I disappear for a few weeks then come back whack out a piece of flash fiction or a blog post or two and then claim I was busy or ill and then disappear once more for another two weeks. Well sorry to disappoint you but it’s not going to be too far different from that today owing to the fact that I managed to get out of the drizzle and ice-ridden UK and spend a week in the Mediterranean climbs of Tenerife. It has done me and my fiancee the world of good but has meant there was a week or so without access to the internet.
That’s right, no Facebook, no Twitter and very restricted access to email. I really didn’t miss it, but some people apparently missed me so this will be a catch-up post to let you know a few things.
Firstly, you may remember me telling you about a new secondary controller called the Stinkyfoot board. The basic premise was a way to perform certain secondary commands on video games. It wouldn’t replace your primary controller but you could program it to do certain other things. You can read more about here. Anyway, if this is something that you really believe in and you want to help it come to fruition, their Kickstarter page is up and running. They have already amassed $31,000 out of the $75,000 they need but would love you to throw some more dollars their way on their Kickstarter page if you can.
The second thing to tell you about is that Heavy Gear Assault, an upcoming AAA PC online multiplayer title will use the new UE4 (Unreal Engine 4). I posted about Heavy Gear Assault here, but if you can’t be bothered to scoot over there then get a load of the new gameplay trailer below which shows you the new UE4 in action.
…aaaaaaand the last thing. If you are one of the five million people who downloaded Mr Runner for their respective iOS devices I am sure you will be very interested to know that the sequel Mr Runner 2: The Masks is due for release on the 24th April, a mere two weeks away.
“Players are thrust into the comical, unpredictable running platformer made up of the main character’s dreaming subconscious as he avoids deadly yet imaginative obstacles to catch an enigmatic figure that holds the key to his identity. As the crazy cartoon world changes around him his mask temporarily morphs to resemble pop culture icons, everything from your favorite super hero to a classic video game figure is likely to appear. “
So what can we expect for the sequel? More linear blocky-stickman escapades? Good heaven no, they’ve injected more life into Mr Runner 2: The Masks.
- 32 level across four worlds with different themes (such as an 80s arcade)
- 54 collectable masks inspired by pop/gamer culture
- 5 costumes with special abilities
- Cartoony characters in vibrant, dream-like worlds
If you want to see just how much Mr. Runner 2: The Masks differs from its predecessor then take a look at this trailer.
Right, so is that everything? Stinkyfoot board Kickstarter? Done. Heavy Gear Assault using the UE4 engine? Done. Release of Mr Runner 2: The Masks on April 24th? Done.
