Star Legends Aftermath Update Released

Arcane Legends New Icy Expansion

Arcane Legends Bottle of NordrThe next, in what is quickly becoming a very long line of expansions to the increasingly popular mobile MMO Arcane Legends is soon to be released. Spacetime Studios have given us so much extra content in previous expansions, from dragon filled volcano’s to villainous pirate seas, so what is in the next expansion? Where is it going to take us?

This time we are being taken to the frozen wastelands of Nordr, a land filled with warriors and frost giants. Defeat new foes and discover the story behind the frost giants return, along the way picking up new gear and finding new pets and five more levels to play with.

With the stream of constant updates, it’s no wonder that Arcane Legends has had more than 6 million downloads so far.

If you want to find out more, you can read the press release below or shoot over to the Arcane Legends Website here.

Arcane Legends gets a PvP Update

Arcane Legends Capture the flag pvpThe New Year has been well and truly ushered in and Spacetime Studios have started 2013 by introducing player vs. player (PvP) combat to their 4 million player strong, mobile MMO Arcane Legends. The first PvP mode to be introduced is a 4 x 4 Capture the Flag match.

For those who have either been living under a gaming rock, or like me, you find the concept of PvP terrifying you may not be familiar with Capture the Flag. In Capture the Flag matches you have to capture the flag from the enemy team. Oh and you have to defend your flag from the enemy team as well, of course. Simple stuff.

I know what you’re thinking, surely compared to all the other updates Spacetime Studios have released this is a little lacking. Naturally they’re not just giving you a PvP mode and nothing else, they’re packing the update with even more achievements, a whole load of new titles and a spanking new PvP leaderboard to climb.

They’re already working on more player vs. player stuff, more PvP modes, more maps, other play types and whole armoury’s full of gear, but they’re making you wait a teeny tiny bit for all that.

If Player vs Player isn’t really your thing than fear not, because I’ve heard rumours (and read it on their official site) that the next Arcane Legends update to be released around February is packed full of pirates and adventures on the high seas and five more levels added to the level cap.

If you want to find out more about all this new PvP Arcane Legends malarkey then you can get to the official site by clicking here, but considering it’s free why are you reading when you could be playing? Have fun!

Best Games of 2012

With the end of 2012 in sight, what better time is there to look back over the year and decide on my top games of 2012. Now when I say top games of 2012, they may not have been actually released in 2012 but they must have been near and I sure as hell played the bejeezus out of them during the year so they count.

I’m sure I’ve missed some, because quite frankly there were crap loads of games I could have played in 2012, and I couldn’t possibly play them all. So this is what we’ll do, I’ll list my top 5 games and then you can all use the comments bit below to add any you think should have been on the list. If nobody comments then I will just have to assume that the entire world agrees with me, and why the hell shouldn’t they.

Pocket Legends Update with Two New Classes

pocket legends new classesIf you are one of the eight million people who have downloaded Pocket Legends then you’ll be very interested to know about all the goodies Spacetime Studios have introduced in the latest update. Although if you are one of those eight million people you probably already know about them, in which case I’m talking to the remaining seven or so billion people who haven’t played it. Assuming of course they’re all interested, which they should be.

Where was I? Oh yeah the update. Well there’s a load of new stuff for you to get your teeth in to.

The main change that everyone seems to be frothing at the mouth over is the addition of two new playable character classes, a vixen (female fox) Ranger and a rhino Paladin. But that‘s not all. You seriously thought they would just leave it at that? Well probably not, my pre-ample kinda suggested that there was more.

You also get all of this.

  • New Elite Bossfight - Battle a level 76 Red Dragon
  • New Dungeons - Including a heroic instance; the Dragonet of Fire Forest just got meaner in the “Forgotten Forest”
  • New 3 vs. 3 Capture the Flag PVP map - Fight for flags and glory in the Burning Flats
  • New Ranks - Two original options for all existing classes skills
  • New Items -Including exclusive vanity drops for previously existing characters
  • New Low Level Drops -Better weapons and shields for lower levelled characters
  • Return of Winterfest – Pocket Legends’ X-Mas celebration returns with new vanity drops and store items

It’s clear to see why Pocket Legends is so popular if they keep throwing out content like this.

As a pointless but rather interesting fact, Pocket Legends has the same number of players as people who live in London.

Crafting in Guild Wars 2

gw2 guild wars 2 crafting logo dragonCrafting is the bit of each new MMO that I am screaming for somebody to get right. In most cases crafting boils down to little more than pointlessly grinding materials to make endless amounts of the same item that you can do little else with other than sell to a vendor for a nominal amount of money.

I’ve recently been playing Guild Wars 2 and that crafting system seems a little different. Don’t get me wrong, you still have to grind for your materials as with all the other MMO crafting systems and there is still that element of repetition in there, but among all that there a few differences which, for me lift their system out of the crafting dirge. Arcane Legends now on iOS

arcane legends ios apple iphone ipad itouchI’ve harped on about Arcane Legends for some time now, well there’s a good reason for that. It’s a good game, well now us poor iPhone and iPad users (not to mention those good old traditional iTouch users of which I was part of for such a long time) now get to play Arcane Legends as well.

It has now been released on all iOS devices for the insanely cheap price of nothing, yep not a penny. (Oh, if the penny is not your lowest denominator of currency please feel free to substitute your own).

So far over 2 million people have downloaded the Android and Google Play versions and can that many people really be wrong. It’s possible I grant you but their not, so there.

Anyway, if you want to download this for your own iOS device just head to the apple store and search for Arcane Legends, or you can click this link here instead, if you prefer.

Spacetime studios logo announcement logo image mobile mmo advert adIn a rare move for any video game developer, Spacetime Studios have brought forward the release date of their exciting new MMO Arcane Legends. That’s right, rather than it being released in a few weeks it’s available now for Android devices and on Google Play. So, sorry iOS users you’re going to have to wait a little longer before you can play it on your Apple device.

I’ve had a go myself and without spoiling the Arcane Legends review that I have bubbling up inside me at the moment, it’s another classic Legends game from Spacetime Studios.

So, if you want to download it and give it a shot and why the hell wouldn’t you, you can get it from here.

Oh and there’s a press release thingie underneath as well, if you want the full bones of it.

Arcane Legends Interview with Fernando Blanco

arcane legends pet system interview chat talk spacetime studiosIf you’re a regular reader of this here blog, you’ve probably read one of the various posts about the Legends series from Spacetime Studios. The newest addition to the Legends series, Arcane Legends is due to be released in a few weeks and it promises a groundbreaking combat system that will deliver the most fast-paced, action-oriented co-op and player-vs-player gameplay of any Legends title to date.

Well, I managed to get some time with the Director of Marketing for Spacetime Studios, Fernando Blanco. Well it was not so much as ‘getting time with him’, but I did break into the offices of Spacetime Studios and leave him a list of questions written in chunky marmalade on his wall, and hot-damn he was not only nice enough to answer them for me but willing to drop all charges providing I sought medical help. What a nice chap.

The Secret World MMO Review

The Secret World is a fairly new MMO released by Funcom, the same chaps who gave us Age of Conan but I had resisted the urge to buy it. I am very rarely tempted to buy any new MMO these days, partly because of the unfinished and often bug and lag ridden nature of some MMO’s upon their release, but mostly because I don’t want to spend £40+ on a game which may have all the playability of a sack of old potatoes. But when Origin held a Halloween sale selling The Secret World plus one month’s free game time for £12.50 it was an offer I couldn’t refuse especially when I knew it had both your friends and mine, zombies in it.
