World of Warcraft: Waving Goodbye

The time has come to cancel my subscription to World of Warcraft. I would like to say that “I do not make this decision lightly” but I was actually surprised at just how easy a decision it turned out to be.

My time spent in Azeroth has dwindled over the past few months. In fact my interest was waning half way through Wrath of the Lich King. Although I put this down to the general lull in enthusiasm that generally sets in just before a new add-on is released.

I even tried giving myself a blog-based boot up the jacksy with this post. Trying to desperately come up with good reasons why I wasn’t playing. Trying to find something that could re-ignite that spark that I’ve had almost consistently for 7 years or so. Read more

Bored of World of Warcraft?

Bored of World of Warcraft WoWThe world of Azeroth has thrilled and entertained me for many years. In the early days, I stayed up until the early hours of the morning and then woke up extra early to cram a couple more hours in before work (Being nearly thirty now means I have nowhere near the energy levels needed for that type of thing anymore). I was surprised at just how bored of World of Warcraft  I am.

World of Warcraft’s Cataclysm has been out for a little over two months, and this time around it just hasn’t captured me like the other add-ons did. What could have possible happened in these 2-3 months that could have deadened my enthusiasm so effectively…? Read more

World of Warcraft, 5 Different Ways to Play.

So, you’ve been playing World of Warcraft for 6 years, leveled many characters and are now wondering what else you can do. Well, for your own amusement I give you 5 different ways to play World of Warcraft, little challenges if you will.Incidentally, you will need to be respectful to other players, specifically those who you may group up with for raid’s and dungeons. Many people might not respect the Naked Mage or Pacifist Rogue in a group. Make sure they are aware of what you are trying to do before you start. You will get a fair amount of party-kicks anyway, so my advice would be to use your guild (or find one who understands). Or better yet, you could try role-playing your character on an RPPvE or RPPvP server, creating a back-story and fully fleshing our your character with reasons about why they act the way that they do. World of Warcraft Crafting is Pointless?

Now that I’ve got to grips with the Cataclysm, it occurs to me that the World of Warcraft crafting is out of synch with the rest of the game. There was a time when crafting would take place as you leveled your character. As you progressed through the zones, you would gather the materials you needed and leveled up your professions of choice. This would happen almost accidentally.

Before Cataclysm Changed World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft Cataclysm ChangesWell, it’s been just over a week since the Cataclysm changed the face of World of Warcraft, one week since Azeroth was nearly destroyed. World of Warcraft has changed more in this one week, than it has done in the past 6 or 7 years I’ve played Wow, but what are my opinions of these Cataclysm changes?

The verdict so far? Well I’m liking it, I’m liking it a lot. Now the areas have been redesigned using the  phasing that they added with WotLK. Your actions performed by way of quests actually seem to make a difference  Having only played fully through the new Forsaken area up to Hillsbrad Foothills, so I can’t say it’s the same for every area but I am definitely looking forward to finding out,  Read more

World of Warcraft MMO Review

Wow Night Elf Orc Box PictureWorld of Warcraft is currently celebrating it’s 6th year and 3rd add-on, under the apocalyptically sounding ‘Cataclysm’. If you haven’t started playing then there is no better time. Blizzard have taken what they have learned over the past 4-5 years when they implemented the two add-ons (Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King), and used this information to go back to the original game and drastically change not only the fundamentals of the game-play, but the world of ‘Azeroth’ itself.
