Last Weeks Top Games and Lessons

So another week has passed and everyone here at the Zombie Chimp have been fervently hammering away at their pc’s and consoles, racking up as many points and xp as their mis-shapen claws will allow, but which games in particular held our interest. Also, you can’t play video-games as much as us and not learn valuable lessons not only about gaming we like to think they help our lives too. “Don’t drop a grenade at your feet.’ See? Life lessons for everyone.

What have I been playing?
Had a lot of spare time and very little sleep this last week. So my time has been split between Overwatch, No Man’s Sky, World of Warcraft Pre-Legion and Fallout 4.

What’s My Biggest Achievement?
This hasn’t really been the week for big achievements, just a whole load of little ones. Got myself another level 100 World of Warcraft (Yes, alright I know it was a demon-hunter and they start at level 98 but it still counts.). Put more work into my vault in Fallout 4, and managed to achieve an overall ranking of 41 in Overwatch’s Competitive Play which isn’t too shabby.

What Did I Learn?
Well, after spending several hours on god knows how many planets running around and finding settlements, monoliths and the various species of No Man’s Sky. I found the ‘F’ key which scans lifeforms. Suddenly the game became a lot more involved and a lot more lucrative. So, yeah add a few idiot points on for me for that one.

What have I been playing?
I’ve not had much time this week to play many games but I did play a bit of Fallout 4. I’ve also been playing a mobile game called Dragonvale which is where you build a Dragon Park for people to visit and you have to breed dragons in order to get more visitors. It’s actually quite a bit of fun for saying it’s a mobile game.

What’s My Biggest Achievement?
Since I’ve not really had much time this week, I’ve only had small achievements. Mostly, this includes having enough money saved to buy a new PC; new gen games here I come! Another achievement is actually going to my settlements in Fallout 4 and building them up properly so my settlers aren’t just sleeping on dirty mattresses in the rain.

What Did I Learn?
This week I learned a lot about how to properly connect power in Fallout 4 instead of just throwing generators and wires everywhere like I normally do. I also learned that building on top of buildings that already exist is one of the better ways to build up your settlements, especially the little ones. Trying to make the most efficient settlements that also keep your settlers happy is difficult but not impossible.

What have I been playing?
At the start of the week I played a bit of GTA V, but I’ve been mostly playing Stardew Valley. Also, started playing Legendary difficulty on Skyrim, so that’s been fun.

What’s My Biggest Achievement?
I finally collected all hidden spaceship parts in GTA V. I reached level 6 so far in Skyrim before even reaching Jarl Balgruuf, which isn’t so much of an achievement given that I’ve only done the story missions so far.

What Did I Learn?
When you play a game on the hardest difficulty, it forces you to think of the game MORE as a game, finding ways to exploit flaws with the AI or in the level design for your own survival. When you push yourself in a game, you find cracks in the game itself.

What have I been playing?
I’ve been playing quite a bit of Overwatch, and a little Fallout 4 and Skyrim here and there.

What’s My Biggest Achievement?
My biggest achievement this week is probably getting 3 simultaneous environmental kills with D.Va (one of them being a Genji!). It gives me such a rush to boop people off the edge at Lijiang Tower. We won that game, though, probably not due to my environmentals :3

What Did I Learn?
I’ve learned how to knock people off the edge with D.Va’s mech quite a bit better than before. I used to have to hit them straight on to get enough push, but now I can sideswipe them as long as I manage to hit them directly. I also learned to boop a Genji, just wait for them to use their dash, bait out their double jump, and try to knock them back while they are still in the air.

What have I been playing?
In the spare time I had this week, I played WWE 2k16 on the XB1 which is available for Games with Gold. In between that, I have been playing some more Just Cause 3 on XB1. I’ve not been able to game near as much as I wished due to personal issues in my family.

What’s My Biggest Achievement?
This is not a very big week for any kind of achievements for me as I am not an achievement hunter as far as gaming goes. I do, however, wish to hopefully achieve getting better in WWE 2k16’s MyCareer mode as I’ve not played a WWE game since Smackdown vs RAW was a thing.

What Did I Learn?
I should remember to increase my stats for my character in WWE2k16’s MyCareer Mode, and to also tag my partner in a tag team match. I always forget to do that, and tag matches are kind of fun after all in 2k16.
